Boston
New York City had been fun, as always, but it was time to move on. I boarded a train to Boston for a girlfriends’ getaway with Hope and Karen. Steve boarded an airplane to Tampa. It was the first time we had been apart since our girlfriends’ getaway in Sedona, one year ago.
It is always so wonderful to see Hope and Karen! This year, we decided on a short getaway in Boston’s Seaport District, which was recently transformed from an industrial waterfront to a vibrant neighborhood with restaurants, stores, and clubs. When we checked into our stylish hotel, we were given chilled cans of Italian sparkling cuvée. Nice!
We didn’t get the spring weather we had hoped for - it was cold and gray - but the rain held off. We were able to enjoy the hotel’s rooftop bar and explore the Seaport. There were new residential buildings, co-working spaces, and tech company office towers, as well as a variety of trendy restaurants and stores. It seemed like an appealing neighborhood for urbanites working at start-ups and tech companies.
The next day we visited the JFK Library - the first time for all of us. It was very well-curated and presented. It was Cinco de Mayo, so naturally we celebrated with some excellent margaritas.
On our last day, we took a walk in the other direction, to Rowe’s Wharf, Quincy Market, and Faneuil Hall. We stopped awhile at the New England Aquarium to watch the harbor seals, which were so entertaining!

I’m fortunate to have a terrific husband who has embraced nomad life with me, but there is no substitute for spending time with one’s dearest girlfriends. I hope to do it as much as possible.
