Canyon Road
Santa Fe has an abundance of art galleries, especially on Canyon Road, which is just a few blocks from our house. There are more than a hundred galleries, restaurants, and boutiques on a half-mile stretch of Canyon Road.
This part of town is called Barrio de Analco, which means “district on the other side of the river” - today we might say, “on the other side (or the wrong side) of the tracks.” So this used to be the part of town for the poor and/or working class, which is amusing because now Canyon Road is one of the most expensive and exclusive addresses in Santa Fe.
Since we are nomad-ing and not buying any art right now, we didn't go inside any of the Canyon Road galleries. But there was plenty of art outside for all to enjoy.
One of the first places we stopped was an outdoor sculpture garden filled with kinetic art. Magical!
Here is more outdoor art that caught my fancy. You can see some dark clouds moving in. It didn’t rain - the clouds moved quickly past us - but there were some gusts of wind. That’s spring weather in Santa Fe!
