Chicago Walks

I love our apartment’s location in the River North neighborhood. There are many interesting and scenic places nearby for my daily walks. For example:

  • 3.5 blocks - Magnificent Mile (Michigan Avenue)

  • 0.5 mile - Riverfront Trail, River Walk

  • 1.2 miles - Navy Pier, Millennium Park, Lincoln Park

For quiet walks, I have learned to go weekday mornings on the Riverfront Trail, Navy Pier, or the River Walk, or on the shady streets of Old Town to Lincoln Park. Afternoon and evening walks are fun, too - Steve and I often walk together, striding past tourists with the confidence of locals who know where they’re going.

I knew there would be plenty of fascinating architecture in downtown Chicago. What surprised me was the abundance of flowers along the city streets, the creative pathways and bridges for pedestrians and bicycles, and the wide, sandy beaches along the lake.

Now I can see why Chicago was rated the most walkable city in the United States. Here are some favorite photos from my walks that don’t appear in other blog posts.
