Seattle Friends
Visiting Seattle is always a treat because it’s a chance to see our friends Kevin and Carolyn. Steve and Kevin have been friends since high school!
Carolyn’s middle kid Ashton had just finished the week-long STG Songwriters Lab, and we attended the final share at the historic Moore Theatre. The audience sat on the stage, looking out at the theater, which was fun! The teens performed songs that - we were impressed to learn - they had just written a few days before. There was a variety of styles: rap, folk, rock. I love that STG (Seattle Theatre Group) does so much to support young people in the performing arts.

Kevin is a serious soccer/futbol fan and took Steve to a Seattle Sounders game. (We had recently watched Real Betis play in Seville - the team colors are a funny coincidence!)
Kevin is also a foodie, so naturally our visits always include excellent and interesting restaurants. One night, we had Spanish tapas at The Harvest Vine. Another night, we had Sichuan hot pot at Chengdu Memory.

The best meal by far was at Kevin and Carolyn’s home, where Kevin made pizza in his Ooni oven. He has mastered the art of making pizza with a New York-style crust: crispy and slightly chewy. Delicious! Thanks so much for hosting us, Kevin and Carolyn. We hope our paths cross again soon.
