Seattle Stopover
After our exciting adventures in Western Canada (Rocky Mountaineer, Calgary Stampede, Vancouver), we needed some time to rest, restock, and refuel. Seattle was the perfect place for this. It was familiar (we had lived there for five weeks in 2021), it had beautiful weather in July, and it was a fun city. And it was the launching point for our next adventure, a cruise to Alaska with my mom.
Unfortunately, the high rise apartment we had rented last time, with its stunning views of Puget Sound, no longer allowed short-term furnished rentals. So we stayed in a nice condo in the First Hill neighborhood, right near the Convention Center, with an easy walk to Pike Place Market and Capitol Hill. It was a comfortable and convenient home base for our eleven-day stay.

The kitchen was well-equipped, so Steve did a lot of cooking. I caught up on my blog posts, planned our travel for the fall, and helped my mom virtually with her finances and preparations for the cruise. I also did some shopping to replace worn items in my tiny wardrobe. Visiting REI’s enormous flagship store was an adventure!

The weather was beautiful, and we enjoyed walking around Downtown. At Pike Place Market, there was a brand new pedestrian park called Overlook Walk, with gorgeous views in all directions. The mountain was out!

Right near Pike Place Market was a favorite spot, Café Campagne, where we sat at the bar and savored icy cold Lillet Rose Martinis and hot, crispy pommes frites. It felt so good to be back. We love Seattle in July!
