On the Road Again - DC to Tampa
After three weeks in DC, the days grew chilly, and we knew it was time for these two Floridians to head south to warmer climes. After seven months on the road, it was also time to find a place to call "home." We signed a lease for an apartment in downtown Tampa. It was a leap of faith, since we had never set foot in the building!
As we packed our bags in DC, we were aware that it would be the last time, at least for a while. As we drove past the triple spires of the Air Force Memorial and the unmistakable hulk of the Pentagon, we waved a fond farewell to our Nation's Capital. We'll definitely be back again!
And then we were heading south on I-95, the final leg of our Epic Road Trip. The miles flew by, because there was so much to talk about. Thanksgiving was less than a week away, and we had an empty apartment we had never seen and not much to furnish it with. Once again, I pulled out my laptop and started making a list. (This is how the idea of Epic Road Trip was originally formed - on a long drive, with a list...)
We did a quick overnight stop near Savannah, and stopped in Jacksonville to have lunch with Maria's mom. It rained as we neared Tampa, but the familiar skyline was a welcome sight. It was good to be back in our home town.
