Seattle, Washington Part II
We are 11 weeks into our Epic Road Trip, and we'e completed 2 weeks working in Seattle. This location is special because when we planned our Epic Road Trip, the first must-do item on our list was to spend the month of July in Seattle.
Our family loves summer in Seattle! Amy was the first to try it: at age 16, she attended a summer intensive at Pacific Northwest Ballet. Two years later, Danny went to work for Microsoft, and lived in Seattle for 3+ years. (Note, Danny dislikes winter in Seattle, but summer still has his stamp of approval.) So after three family vacations in Seattle that felt much too short, Steve and I are finally living our dream of being Seattle residents for a good portion of the summer.
We love our apartment near Pike Place Market with gorgeous views of Puget Sound. We love the sunny, 70-degree days (thankfully we arrived well after the freak heat wave). But best of all - and this was rather unexpected - we have loved hanging out with both of our kids here in Seattle!
Remote work made this reunion possible. Danny is here for the month, visiting his girlfriend Jordan, and still going full-speed ahead with his startup company. Amy has a remote summer job with a small consulting firm and was able to spend 5 days here. So the Wilson family was complete for the first time since last December. I have been over the moon!
Since our family loves to eat good food together, we naturally spent some time sampling some of Seattle's finest.
At Old Stove Brewing Co. Steve tried a flight of beers, and Amy tried a flight of ciders. We all enjoyed being outdoors in that "golden hour" before sunset.

We experienced a visual feast at the Modernist Cuisine gallery. Nathan Myhrvold's fascinating food photographs reminded us a lot of Doc Edergton's groundbreaking work, elevated with modern technology.
We enjoyed getting to know Jordan, and we're glad she shares our love for a good steak. The Butcher's Table has some of the best steak in town.
Some nights, Danny and Jordan took Amy clubbing while we old folks relaxed at "home," basking in the glow of the city lights and in the pleasure of having the family together again. We'll always have fond memories of this wonderful summer as a family in Seattle.
