Downtown Boulder

It was an easy 20-minute walk to Downtown Boulder from our apartment. The most popular spot was the Pearl Street Mall, an outdoor pedestrian mall with an eclectic array of (mostly) local restaurants and shops. It was quite busy on evenings and weekends, sometimes with live music. Our favorite restaurant was Postino, where could choose the toppings for a bruschetta board to accompany our wine.

Just a few blocks from Pearl Street, the Farmers Market was open on Saturdays and Wednesdays. One weekend, we splurged on a Wagyu steak and an assortment of fresh mushrooms, and Steve cooked a fantastic meal. Right next to the market was a Persian-style teahouse, which was handcrafted in Dushanbe, Tajikistan and shipped to Boulder for assembly. (Dushanbe and Boulder are sister cities.)

I enjoyed wandering around Downtown Boulder. There were interesting buildings and murals on almost every block. It was very pedestrian-friendly: drivers always yielded the right of way. There was a nice paved path alongside Boulder Creek, which flowed through Downtown. It was fun to have a vibrant downtown just a few minutes’ walk from scenic mountain trails.
