Zoom Buddies in SF

Just three months after our 40th college reunion, the “Zoom Buddies” had a bonus mini-reunion in San Francisco, thanks to Linda, whose son was getting married there. It was convenient for me that we were already living in San Francisco this month. Jean and Stephanie made the short hop from Los Angeles. Jennifer and Linda flew cross-country from New York City and Pennsylvania, respectively. Linda was understandably busy with last-minute wedding details and traveling family members. So the rest of us explored the city together, sometimes with one o two husbands in tow.

On Thursday, we visited SFMOMA, where the highlight was an enormous floating cloud of kites by Jacob Hashimoto. You can read more about it HERE.

Next we headed to JapanTown, where I pick up the pearl earrings I’d had made at Miseki. We tried a photo booth and were surprised by the JUMBO prints! Steve and Mark (Jennifer’s husband) joined us for a delicious dinner at 7Adams.

Friday was gorgeously sunny! We went to the Presidio and admired the view from Tunnel Tops. Then Steve and I walked the Golden Gate Promenade while the others visited the Disney Family Museum, a wonderful place that Steve and I visited last year. Jean and Steph, the LA buddies, especially enjoyed learning how Disneyland came about.

Then we girls headed to Chinatown for some awesome dim sum, followed by a quick visit to the Fortune Cookie Factory.

On Saturday morning, Jean, Steph, and Steph’s husband Steve explored the Embacadero via bicycle, starting with the Ferry Building Farmers Market and meeting up with Jennifer and Mark at Fisherman’s Wharf. I joined everyone later at the Cable Car Museum.. Read about it HERE.

We were able to see Linda and her husband Billy at the wedding and its related events, which were terrific and deserve a separate post.

Spending a long weekend with my Zoom Buddies was a real San Francisco treat! I’m so grateful for our enduring friendships and can’t wait to get together with them again.
